Cy-Woods vs. Cy-Fair
Cy-Woods opened district play at home against the defending state champs Cy-Fair. Cy-Fair opened with 3 runs in the first inning but Cy-Woods answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the same inning with Matt Gill starting it off with a homerun. Cy-Fair tied the game in the 5th and added 3 more runs in the 6th inning to defeat the Wildcats 7 to 4.
Cy-Woods vs. Cy-Springs
The Wildcats next traveled to Cy-Springs with Andy Lada and Jared Lakind each hitting homeruns. The Wildcats couldn’t hold an 8 to 6 lead and lost at the end 9 to 8.
Cy-Woods vs. Cy-Ridge
The Cy-Ridge Rams came to Cy-Woods with the Wildcats 0 and 2 in district play. After 4 innings, Cy-Ridge was winning 5 to 3 when pitcher Casey Grayson came in and shut down the Rams. The Wildcats added 1 run in the 6th inning and another run in the bottom of the 7th inning to tie the game. Grayson pitched 5 shut out innings. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Jared Lakind led off with a walk and Tyson Heinrich followed him with a double which was enough to score Lakind from first to give the Wildcats a 6 to 5 victory.
Cy-Woods vs. Jersey Village
The Wildcats next traveled to Jersey Village and defeated the Falcons 6 to 2. Jeremy Fant threw a complete game to collect the win for the Wildcats to improve their district record to 2 and 2.
Cy-Woods vs. Langham Creek
The next district match up for the Wildcats was against the Langham Creek Lobos. Casey Grayson hit a 3 run homerun in the first inning but the Lobos bounced back and were ahead 7 to 3 after 5 innings. With 2 outs in the 6th inning, Connor Hyde hit a 2 run homerun and Michael Hilliard followed with a 3 run homer to give the Wildcats an 8 to 7 lead. In the bottom of the 7th inning, the Lobos had the bases loaded and 2 outs when Max Jenkins had a game winning single to give the Lobos a 9 to 8 win over the Wildcats.
Cy-Woods vs. Strake Jesuit
The next opponent for the Wildcats was the Strake Jesuit Crusaders, 4th in District with the Wildcats right behind them. On a windy night, the Wildcats took a 7 to 4 lead with the help of a homerun by Casey Grayson. Michael Hays pitched 2 shut out innings and the Wildcats added 2 more runs in the 4th with a RBI double by Cory Barcus. The Wildcats led 9 to 4 going into the 7th. The Crusaders pushed across 3 more runs in the 7th and had the tying run on second when Jared Lakind caught the final out to secure the Wildcat victory. This brought Cy-Woods’ district record to 3 and 2, moving them into 4th place in district.
